Headmaster assaulted by ‘UP member’ in Natore

A headmaster of a high school was beaten allegedly by a local union parishad member this morning following a conflict over forming the school managing committee in Boraigram upazila of Natore.
Mijanur Rahman is the headmaster of Panchbaria High School at Nagar union in the upazila, our Natore correspondent reports quoting police.
Bachchu Pramanik, a member of Nagar union parishad, along with 10 to 12 men intercepted Mijanur on way to his school and beat him up around 11:30am, said Jahan Ara Parvin, elder sister of the victim.
She demanded immediate and exemplary punishment of the assaulters.
Headmaster Mijanur was rushed to a local clinic soon after he was beaten. Later he was shifted to Dhaka as his condition deteriorated.
"We will take action after receiving complaints," said Shariar Khan, officer-in-charge of Boraigram Police Station.
Bachchu is an aspirant for the chairman post of the newly abolished school managing committee, which the headmaster opposed, according to the locals.
