Habiganj free of child marriage

Habiganj has been declared as the second district after Moulvibazar in greater Sylhet region free from child marriage.

The announcement came at a meeting held at Deputy Commissioner's Office premises on Sunday afternoon.

While addressing a rally at the venue, speakers said no child marriage will take place in the district.

Stern action will be taken if anyone tries to arrange any early marriage in the district and violate the announcement, added the speakers.

Besides, many people from different areas took oath to prevent child marriage.

Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Jamal Uddin Ahmed was present at the programme as chief guest.

Among others, Habiganj Deputy Commissioner Sabina Alam was also present on the occasion.
