The body of a Bangladeshi national, shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) near Bangerbari border in Patgram upazila, was handed over to Bangladesh Border Guards (BGB) on Tuesday night.

BSF members handed over the body of Hazrat Ali, 35, of Bangerbari village in the upazila, to BGB after a company-commander level flag meeting at Burimari border.

The BSF opened fire on seven to eight cattle traders while they were returning home through the border early Tuesday, said Lt Col Ahmed Bajlur Rahman, commanding officer of BGB 15 Battalion in Lalmonirhat.
