B’Baria police asks increased vigilance at borders
Brahmanbaria police has requested to increase vigilance at borders and ports so that no culprit involved in the attack on Nasirnagar Hindus can escape.
District police office has written to the police headquarters in Dhaka in this regard. The Daily Star was able to collect a copy of the letter this afternoon.
Asked in this regard, Brahmanbaria police's Additional Superintendent Iqbal Hossain has confirmed The Daily Star of district police's request to heighten vigilance.
Hindu minorities in Nasirnagar have experienced a spate of attack this month that started from a rampage over an alleged Facebook post on October 30. Five temples were vandalised and over a hundred houses were ransacked.
Later, several other attacks were carried out – houses of Hindu families torched.
Compelled after several attacks, local police declared a bounty on the miscreants, announcing Tk 1 lakh for information leading to the capture of the arsonists.
