5 ‘ABT men’ arrested in Ctg

Detectives in a drive arrested five youths for their alleged link with banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from Patenga area of Chittagong city early today.

The law enforces also recovered some jihadi books, mobile phone sets and laptops from their possession, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting Aftab Hossain sub-inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police.

Acting on a tip-off, the DB team carried out the raid at a house in Kathgar area in the port city around 1:00am and arrested the five 'ABT activists', he said.

The detainees Akkas Ali Nayan, 23, Atiqul Hasan Emon, 26, Zamshedul Alam Hridoy, 21, Md Rubel, 26, and Md Mohiuddin, 18, are students of different educational institutes in the port city, the DB official said.

They were planning to go for subversive activities in the port city, the DB official added.
