3 minor sisters die of hornet attack in Dinajpur
Three minor sisters died and their mother was injured in an attack by a swarm of hornets in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur.
The deceased were identified as Hadisa Begum, 8, Farzana Begum, 3, and nine-month old Meem, daughters of Islam Mia of Arji Laskara village in the upazila, our local correspondent reports quoting Zahangir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Birganj Police Station.
Hadisa was a class I student at Arji Laskara Government Primary School.
Ramzan Ali, a resident of the village, said the hornets attacked them when a hive in a bamboo cluster near their house collapsed due to heavy wind around 4:00pm.
Hearing screams, locals rescued them and rushed to Thakurgaon General Hospital where Hadisa and Farzana succumbed to their injuries around 9:30pm yesterday.
Meem and her mother Tanjila Begum, 36, were referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where the baby girl died today, OC Zahangir said.
