Father and brother of Khadiza Begum Nargis, who is still battling for life after a brutal attack by a Bangladesh Chhatra League man in Sylhet, demanded justice for her.

Khadiza's father Mashuk Miah who has been working in Saudi Arabia for last 20 years, and her brother Shaheen Miah arrived in Dhaka this morning. Later, they came to Square Hospitals around 6:30am.

Talking to the reporters at the hospital, Mashuk Miah said, "disgrace" like BCL man Badrul Alam, who hacked Khadiza in broad daylight on Monday, should not be given birth in future.

"There could be another girl instead of my daughter," he lamented saying, "This kind of brutality must not be repeated."

Doctors are scheduled to give them an update on Khadiza tomorrow noon, after observing her condition for 72 hours, Mashuk Miah said.

Khadiza received blows on her head with a sharp weapon and it went beyond the skull multiple times injuring the brain. She has been on life support since she was brought there on Tuesday morning.

Demanding exemplary punishment of Badrul, Khadiza's brother Shaheen Miah broke into tears.

Badrul Alam, senior assistant secretary of the BCL unit at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) hacked Khadiza, 23, a student of Sylhet Government Women's College, indiscriminately with a machete on Monday.

A part of the attack was filmed presumably by a bystander with a mobile phone. The video clip went viral on social media.

In the clip, a youth is seen repeatedly hacking a girl lying on the ground. There were some bystanders, but no one seemed to have gone to her rescue.

However, some students along with locals caught and beat up the attacker -- Badrul. He was later handed over to police.

Critically injured, Khadiza was first treated at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. The next morning, she was shifted to the capital's Square Hospitals where she had a neurosurgery.
