StanChart, BMMOA partner to offer banking benefits to mariners

Standard Chartered Bangladesh has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers’ Association (BMMOA) to provide a range of banking privileges for Bangladeshi mariners.

Faisal Haque, head of priority and wealth management of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, and Capt Md Anam Chowdhury, president of BMMOA, signed the MoU in Dhaka yesterday, according to a press release.

Anam said the partnership would provide members with banking privileges that would make their financial lives simpler, more convenient, and more rewarding.

Lutful Habib, managing director and head of wealth and retail banking at Standard Chartered Bangladesh, said the bank understood the unique financial needs of mariners while remaining connected to their families and financial responsibilities.

“Through this partnership, we are bringing them a dedicated set of banking privileges designed around their unique professional journey and financial needs,” he said.

Under the partnership, eligible new and existing mariner clients will receive priority banking privileges, preferential lending rates, processing fee waivers on retail lending facilities, annual fee waivers on eligible credit and debit cards, and other banking benefits.

Newly onboarded clients will also receive cashback benefits upon meeting applicable eligibility and balance requirements.

Standard Chartered said the initiative aims to provide flexible and accessible banking solutions tailored to the globally mobile lifestyle of mariners and support them throughout their financial journey.
