Renata enters Portugal with therapeutics

Renata PLC has entered a new European market, Portugal, with its first consignment of therapeutics scheduled for launch. The company already commercialises across the UK, Ireland, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Cyprus.

The initial launch comprises Amantadine 100 mg capsules, Fludrocortisone 0.1 mg tablets and Cabergoline 0.5 mg tablets, according to a press release. Amantadine, used to reduce involuntary muscle movements and stiffness in Parkinson’s patients, will be supplied from Renata’s EU-GMP-approved Rajendrapur general facility and is marketed in Bangladesh as Mantadin. Fludrocortisone and Cabergoline, both high-potency therapeutics, will be supplied from the EU-GMP-approved Mirpur potent facility.

Fludrocortisone, a synthetic corticosteroid, is used for hormone replacement therapy in adrenal insufficiency, including Addison’s disease, while Cabergoline, sold in Bangladesh as Cabolin, is prescribed to correct hyperprolactinemia. Renata said it aims to build a reputation in Portugal for quality and reliability, as in other European markets.
