Newly designed Tk 10 banknote to hit market tomorrow
Bangladesh Bank (BB) is set to release a newly designed Tk 10 banknote into circulation from tomorrow as part of its ongoing initiative to introduce a new series of currency notes.
The new Tk 10 note will initially be available from the Motijheel office of Bangladesh Bank and later from its other offices across the country.
The new note will bear the signature of BB Governor Ahsan H Mansur.
On the front side, the left portion will display an image of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka, while the centre will feature the national flower, the waterlily, in the background. The reverse side will carry a graffiti image from 2024.
The central bank said the existing Tk 10 paper notes currently in circulation will remain legal tender alongside the new design.
Bangladesh Bank has also printed non-exchangeable specimen notes for collectors, which will be available at a fixed price at the Currency Museum in Mirpur.
The BB has undertaken the initiative to print new banknotes of all denominations (Tk 1,000, Tk 500, Tk 200, Tk 100, Tk 50, Tk 20, Tk 10, Tk 5, and Tk 2) with a new design and series titled “Historical and Archaeological Architecture of Bangladesh”.
Among these, the Tk 1,000, Tk 500, Tk 100, Tk 50, and Tk 20 notes have already been released into circulation.
