The European Rover Challenge (ERC) is a prestigious space and robotics event combining international competitions of mobile robots with scientific and technological shows. Regarded as the biggest robotics and space event in Europe, ERC is also the meeting place for representatives of the European world of science and business interested in the use of space and robotic technologies.

Remote learning has been a difficult shift for us all, especially junior and senior- year students of universities. Despite it being almost two years since our routines were replaced with unfamiliar social and academic pressures, there is still a longing ache for the familiar faces and the thrills of on-campus adventures.

Sadia Rahman Mou won three gold medals in singles, doubles, and team table tennis matches in the 9th Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games. She was also rewarded with bronze medals in 2016 and 2019 during the South Asian Games.

United International University (UIU) Robotics Club organised “IdeaStorm 2021” online recently.

Amidst the pandemic, about 50,000 Bangladeshi students opted for studying abroad mainly through online classes, as most international borders were shut. As things are gradually getting back on track, the influx of students choosing to study abroad is expected to increase tenfold.

ULAB Digital Marketing Club launched a national digital marketing competition, 'Idea Hunters 2.0', recently.  It was open for undergraduate students all over Bangladesh.

When the University of Dhaka (DU) was shut down due to the pandemic, 24 -year-old Shahin Alam, a Political Science student of the university, began computer training sessions for physically-challenged and visually-impaired students online, free of cost. Alam is visually-impaired himself. He is from Alampur village under Kotchandpur upazila.

Knowing that sports was his passion, Samannoy Ghosh wanted to pursue it no matter what. Today, the multifaceted RJ and host is a promising name in the world of sports, with his appearances as a commentator on national television earning much praise.

Fourteen-year-old Rabbi Rahman, a tenth grader from Bogura, is the youngest Bangladeshi swimmer to cross the Bangla Channel in the Bay of Bengal. He secured the first place in the 15th Fortune Bangla Channel Swimming competition in November last year, amongst 40 contestants of different age groups. It took Rabbi only 3 hours and 20 minutes to cross the 16.1 km channel from Teknaf jetty to St Martin’s Island.

Daffodil International University (DIU) is set to host a national virtual conference on ‘Industrial Technology Innovation Management for Sustainable Economic Development of Bangladesh’ on September 25, 2021. The inaugural session followed by a plenary session of the conference will be held live from 5 pm on DIU’s official Facebook page and Campus TV, along with Zoom. American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham), Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) and Skill.jobs are the co-host organisations of the event.

Muhammad Samshuzzaman Arafat made a record by being the only runner to cover the 1004 km from Teknaf to Tetulia. The Bangladeshi triathlete has made his country proud with his prolific performances at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. The event was held in St.George, Utah USA on 18th September, 2021. This year, there were 3555 contenders from 80 countries around the world.

The Business Club of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) conducted a webinar on challenges and pportunities in international trade on September 16.  Amer Salim, Director of Knit Asia Limited and Aurum Sweaters Limited, was the guest speaker for the event. 

The virtual National Seminar, “ Accelerating Progress and Equity in Education during the Pandemic in Bangladesh" was organised by the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) at North South University (NSU) and KASpaces of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Germany, on September 18 and 19. 

International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) is an annual competition for secondary school students that tests their skills in all major areas of geology, geophysics, meteorology, oceanography, terrestrial astronomy, and environmental sciences. Organised majorly by the International GeoScience Education Organisation, the competition consists of written and practical tests, and several multinational team based events.

Sapnil Chowdhury is a passionate go-getter, who dabbled in acting, volunteering, and sports, among his other interests, throughout the years. He was born and brought up in Brahmanbaria until he moved to Dhaka to pursue a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from American International University Bangladesh (AIUB).
