Shahin Alam’s selfless pursuit of knowledge

The 14-year-old who crossed the Bangla Channel
Fourteen-year-old Rabbi Rahman, a tenth grader from Bogura, is the youngest Bangladeshi swimmer to cross the Bangla Channel in the Bay of Bengal. He secured the first place in the 15th Fortune Bangla Channel Swimming competition in November last year, amongst 40 contestants of different age groups. It took Rabbi only 3 hours and 20 minutes to cross the 16.1 km channel from Teknaf jetty to St Martin’s Island.

Muhammad Samshuzzaman Arafat’s commendable feat at Ironman 70.3
Muhammad Samshuzzaman Arafat made a record by being the only runner to cover the 1004 km from Teknaf to Tetulia. The Bangladeshi triathlete has made his country proud with his prolific performances at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. The event was held in St.George, Utah USA on 18th September, 2021. This year, there were 3555 contenders from 80 countries around the world.

International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) is an annual competition for secondary school students that tests their skills in all major areas of geology, geophysics, meteorology, oceanography, terrestrial astronomy, and environmental sciences.
