With the motto to stimulate the idea of values and positive change, Shuvashish Bhowmick, founder of father-son singing duo Baap Ka Beta, initiated the campaign, “Mullobodh Er Paathshala". This campaign hosts live sessions with renowned celebrities, authors, and experts on the importance of morals and values. The fifth episode, titled "Does or can literature play a role in developing values?" was held yesterday, featuring Chamok Hasan, Research & Development Engineer at Boston Scientific Corporation and Mahrin Ferdous, an author by passion and profession who has been affiliated with literature for the past decade.

Prospects of the Millennium Campus Network for Bangladeshi fellows

Established in 2008, the Millennium Campus Network (MCN) is a non-profit organisation that trains 21st century social impact leaders. Bangladesh has been selected for the 1st time in the MCN this year. In 2018, the organisation expanded the fellowship programme by partnering with United Nations Academic Impact to assemble, contest, and revel undergraduate leadership for SDG and UNAI principles. Out of all the applicants, only six percent of them are chosen on the basis of the ideas that can prove to be progressive for a nation. 17 fellows from AUW, 13 fellows from BRACU, 14 fellows from BUP and 11 fellows from CU were selected from Bangladesh.

You cannot convince me that the pandemic has not been hard on everyone

On some level, the pandemic weighs down on every single human being - those of us who are still fortunate enough to live through these times. There continues to be people whose actions (or inactions) directly contribute to the loss of innumerable lives. I have not yet been able to process the mindset they have or where they are coming from. All I know is that I am prompted to withhold my judgement (at least for the anti-vaxxers and the people denying the pandemic, not for the reckless partiers and travellers). The existence of this group of people serves as yet another reminder or blatant proof of the failings of modern society, especially because of its ever-increasing polarisation.

A young doctor’s commendable feat

Urmeeta Dutta completed her SSC and HSC examinations from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College. After sitting for the admission tests, she made it to both Dhaka Medical College (DMC) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). “According to my family’s choice, I decided to study in DMC. I completed my MBBS in 2015 and internship training in 2016,” she shared. She stood first in all three professional exams and for this result, she received the Prime Minister Gold Medal Award.
