Bangladesh youth teams miss out on AHF U-18 Asia Cup semifinals
Both Bangladesh’s men’s and women’s teams failed to secure places in the semifinals of the AHF U-18 Asia Cup in Japan after finishing third in their respective groups on Wednesday.
The Bangladesh men’s side, who opened their campaign with a victory over Malaysia before suffering a narrow defeat to China, lost 5-2 to Pakistan in their final Pool B match.
The men in red and green twice fought back after falling behind, with Munna Islam converting two penalty corners to keep Bangladesh in the contest. However, Pakistan pulled away in the second half, scoring three more goals in the third and fourth quarters to seal a comfortable victory.
Bangladesh will now face South Korea in the fifth-sixth place playoff on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh women’s team suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat against China in their final Pool B fixture.
After opening the tournament with a loss to Japan and then defeating Chinese Taipei, the women needed a positive result to keep their semifinal hopes alive but were outclassed by the Chinese side.
The women in red and green will take on Malaysia in the fifth-sixth place playoff on Thursday.
