Salahuddin unhappy with referees’ decisions in BPL

Star Sports Report

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Kazi Salahuddin expressed his dissatisfaction over some decisions the referees made while conducting the matches in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

"I am not happy with some decisions [the referees made during the matches of Bangladesh Premier League]," Salahuddin told the reporters during the game between BFF Elite Football Academy and NoFeL Sporting Club at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium today.

"Some decisions went in favour of Bashundhara Kings in their match against Bangladesh Police while some decisions against Saif SC were unfair. I have warned them to be careful about it," said the BFF president after having a half-hour meeting with the referees.

"Yesterday [Saturday], I had a three-hour meeting with the head of referees and today [Sunday] I also met with the top referees, who gave explanations regarding their decisions while I have also shared my views," Salahuddin said. "I am trying to solve the matter because it will benefit football in Bangladesh," Salahuddin added.

Salahuddin also believes that the lack of referees' maturity is creating this problem.

"There is no consistency in the decisions of referees because they are not matured enough to handle this. I am discussing it with them, suspending them, so that things can be done the right way," said the BFF boss.

"There are also some problems. The players also lack education on how to behave with the referees and the club officials at the dugout are also creating problems but the referees are not mentioning it in their reports."

Salahuddin believes the continuous communication with the referees and appointment of foreign referees in some crucial matches of the league are ways of solving this issue.
