Jamal denies 'kicking referee'

Star Sports Report

Saif Sporting Club captain Jamal Bhuiyan has claimed to media that he did not kick or touch any match official after his side's 1-0 defeat against Sheikh Russel KC in a Bangladesh Premier League fixture at the Birshreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Sunday.

Bangladesh Football Federation on Monday sent a showcause notice to Saif Sporting, saying that the captain had aimed to kick the referee after the match, but the kick eventually landed on assistant referee Junayed Sharif. The showcause notice has been prepared on the basis of referee's report, it said, further asking the club to explain its position over the incident and asking for a reply within Tuesday evening.

However, Jamal, while talking to media yesterday, claimed that he did not even touch any match official during or after the match.

Saif Sporting Club lost the match 1-0, the goal coming from a penalty decision against Saif, which they claimed to be controversial. The players protested the decision vehemently, confining him from all corners on the field following the decision.
