Rishad gets full NOC for Big Bash during BPL slot
January 19, 2015 was the last time that a Bangladesh player appeared in the BBL, when Shakib Al Hasan played the tournament. Last season, Rishad Hossain could have been just the second player to appear in the tournament but did not get an NOC from the board to play for Hobart Hurricanes last season due to BPL commitments.
This season, Hurricanes roped in Rishad again and BCB has this time granted him full NOC for the tournament.
BCB's cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees confirmed to The Daily Star that Rishad has been granted full NOC to appear in Big Bash.
The tournament will be played from December 14 to January 25. Given that Bangladesh Premier League is set to begin on the tentative date of December 19, RIshad will unlikely be playing the BPL this season.
Rishad was picked from the BBL draft by former Australia skipper and Hurricanes' Head of strategy Ricky Ponting.
Ponting last year explained what the Hurricanes see in the leg-spinner.
"He's (Hossain) someone that's an out-and-out wicket-taking bowler," said Ponting.
"Talking to Nathan Ellis (Hobart Hurricanes captain) through the course of last year, he was desperate for a spin-bowler to take wickets through the middle of the innings.
"That's what leg-spinners do. If you look at Rishad's record, it's amazing," he had added.
