Former South African batter Ashwell Prince has resigned from his position as the Bangladesh batting coach, confirmed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations committee chairman Jalal Yunus to The Daily Star today.

"He has emailed us confirming that he is not willing to continue and resigned from his post as the batting coach for personal reasons," said Jalal.

Prince joined the Tigers' coaching staff in July last year. The 44-year-old was initially signed on a short-term deal for last year's tour of Zimbabwe. After the Zimbabwe tour, his contract was extended till this year's ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.

Bangladesh will be without Prince from their upcoming home series against Afghanistan later this month. Bangladesh are scheduled to host Afghanistan for three ODIs and two T20Is with the series starting on February 23 through the ODIs.
