BPL players' auction moved to November 30
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) governing council announced new dates for the players' auction on Wednesday following a meeting. Previously the auction was set for November 23 but has now been pushed back to November 30.
Inconsistencies of previous BPL events surfaced in the upcoming 12th edition of the tournament as well. On November 13, the BPL governing council extended the deadline for submitting the BDT 10 crore guarantees to November 18 after several teams requested more time.
Yet, after the deadline ended, three teams had reportedly submitted bank gurantee. On Wednesday, sources informed that four team had submitted bank gurantee but there were still loose ends to be resolved.
"If any franchise fails to provide the bank guarantee, their franchise fee of BDT 2 crore will be forfeited. But proceeding without the guarantee risks repeating past issues. Teams can also submit a Fixed Deposit lien, which we can break at any time," BPL governing council chairman Iftekhar Rahman Mithu had told The Daily Star yesterday.
With bank gurantee apparently yet to be secured, the BPL governing council has now pushed back the auction date.
"The BPL Governing Council of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announces that the BPL Players' Auction 2026 will now take place on Sunday, 30 November 2025, from 3pm onward at the Grand Ballroom, Radisson Blu Dhaka," a BCB press release read on Wednesday night.
