Imrul Tigers' best in a three-match series

Star Online Report

Imrul Kayes has gone past Tamim Iqbal's record of most runs scored in three-match series for Bangladesh to set a new record. The opener has been in fine touch in this series, hitting 144 in the first ODI before following it up with a 90-run innings in the second ODI.

The left-hander, who missed out on a ton in the second ODI did not let up on the opportunity to strike yet another hundred in this series as this time he capitalized on a good start to complete a ton on the way to making his personal record.

Imrul's run tally stands at 349 runs from three innings against Zimbabwe in this series. Bangladesh opener Tamim, out with an injury held the record for the most runs in a three-match series with 312 runs scored against Pakistan during the home series in 2015. Tamim, like Imrul this time, had also struck two tons in that series.

Tamim also scored 287 runs in the recently concluded away series against Zimbabwe and his name appears thrice in the list for Bangladesh's top five run-getters in a three-match series.
