A Chat With DOOB
How would you define Doob?
We would define Doob as half of all our hearts. We want to do music that is so simple that it would touch everyone at their core. You could say at Doob, we don't have plugs.
Tell us about your journey into music?
We are all undergraduate students at NSU. As soon as we met, we knew that we would have amazing chemistry as a band, and hence we started playing together in NSU. Since then, we've done numerous shows including TV and radio. We are working on our own songs at the moment.
Who are your inspirations?
We are surrounded by amazing musicians around us, many of whom aren't necessarily famous. We take a lot of courage from them. Furthermore, we take a lot of inspiration from amazing artists such as Arnob and Fuad.
If there was a song that you cherished the most, which one would it be?
It would definitely be "Etota Bhalobashi" by Recall, as it was our first hit YouTube cover.
What are your viewpoints regarding the music industry in Bangladesh?
Even though piracy has been a huge concern for musicians, our music industry has evolved and now our transactions are mostly online-oriented. People are now starting to buy music online and that is a huge and positive improvement. Also, the competition is tougher than ever, as even established bands are fighting to keep their spot on platforms like YouTube. Overall, we are hopeful about the future.
What are your ambitions concerning your career in music?
To be honest, we just want to make music and enjoy doing it as long as we are together as a band. We have a long way to go, but we would like Doob to be called one of the most unique bands in the country one day.
