Don’t blame any party unilaterally over Ctg clash: Home minister
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said no political party should be blamed unilaterally over the clash between Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir at Chattogram City College until an investigation is complete.
“I would request that we avoid the culture of blaming each other without investigation,” he said this evening after Jamaat-e-Islami MP from the Chattogram-15 constituency, Shahjahan Chowdhury, raised the issue on a point of order.
“If such incidents occur, cases should be filed with the police, and a proper investigation must follow. We should not assign blame before the investigation is completed,” he added.
Shahjahan Chowdhury sought the home minister’s intervention over the clash.
Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal said that if a proper notice was submitted, the home minister would respond.
Later, taking the floor, Salahuddin Ahmed said, “As a political party, we are being blamed. As home minister, I receive reports from various intelligence agencies. Reports have emerged of such an incident involving Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir in Chattogram. I need some time to ascertain the facts. I can then make a statement under Rule 300.”
He added that he did not want to place one-sided blame and urged lawmakers not to accuse any political party before an investigation is conducted.
