Four die in road crashes

Three people were killed and four others injured as a microbus hit a stationary dump truck in Gangni upazila of Meherpur on Tuesday.

The deceased are Shahin Hossain, 25; his aunt Akhter Banu, 45; and the microbus driver, Jamal Hossain, 40, said Bani Israel, officer-in-charge of Gangni Police Station.

The accident occurred around 11:30pm on Meherpur-Kushtia road in Shukurkandi area.

In Narsingdi, a head-on collision between a private car and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Monohardi upazila left the auto-rickshaw driver dead and two others injured on Tuesday.

The deceased is Md Shahin, 35, said SI Shahiduzzaman of Monohardi Police Station.

In another development, the bus driver, who continued driving at high speed on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway despite the vehicle's roof being blown off, has been arrested by Rab.

Rab-10 Assistant Director (Media), ASP Shamim Hasan Sardar, in a press release yesterday said the driver, Shahidul Sheikh, 30, was arrested on Tuesday in South Keraniganj.
