The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) today decided in a meeting at Chapainawabganj that no one, except farmers of the two countries, would be allowed to come within 150 yards of the border.

The decision came at a sector commander-level courtesy meeting between the BGB and BSF held at Sonamasjid BOP conference room in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj this morning.

This information was confirmed through a press release sent by the 59 BGB Commander in Chapainawabganj, Lt Col Golam Kibria.

Both sides in the meeting reached a consensus on three more issues to ensure peaceful coexistence, he said.

They include resolving any border-related problem through discussion, taking steps to prevent any kind of border-related propaganda or rumour, and keeping the border population away from illegal trespassing and drug peddling, the BGB commander said.

At the meeting, Col Md Imran Ibne A Rouf, sector commander of BGB Rajshahi, led the Bangladesh team while Arun Kumar Gautam, DIG of BSF's Malda sector, led the Indian team.

59 BGB Commander in Chapainawabganj Lt Col Golam Kibria and 119 BSF Commander Suruj Sing were also present at the meeting.
