3 killed in Tangail road crash
Three people were killed after a mini truck collided with a low-bed trailer truck from behind on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail this afternoon.
The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately. However, one of them is believed to be the mini truck driver, and the other two were passengers in the same vehicle.
Masud Khan, officer-in-charge of Gorai Highway Police Station, said the accident occurred around 5:00pm in the Gorai Mill Gate area when a mini truck loaded with household goods rear-ended a low-bed trailer truck.
The front of the mini truck was severely damaged, and all three -- the driver and two passengers-- died on the spot.
Upon receiving information, police, along with fire service and civil defence personnel, recovered the bodies and sent them to the local police station.
The OC also told this correspondent that the driver of the low-bed trailer truck fled the scene with the vehicle after the accident.
He added that the bodies will be handed over to the victims' families upon completion of legal formalities.
