New army chief meets president
Newly-appointed Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan met President Zillur Rahman at Bangabhaban in the capital yesterday.
During the meeting, Zillur Rahman congratulated the new army chief saying that he had earned a reputation as a competent officer in Bangladesh Army.
The president appreciated General Iqbal for completing many challenging assignments during his service.
Zillur hoped that the Bangladesh Army would go forward under his dynamic leadership.
General Iqbal expressed his gratitude to Zillur for appointing him as the army chief and sought the president's co-operation.
The president, also the supreme commander of Armed Forces, assured the new army chief of his all-out co-operation in overall development of the army.
