CU, Cuet celebrate Bangabandhu's birthday
Chittagong University (CU) yesterday celebrated the 92nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through elaborate programmes.
The CU authorities started the day by placing wreaths on the portrait of Bangabandhu and cutting a cake to mark his birthday.
A discussion was organised at the university central library where CU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Anwarul Azim Arif addressed among others.
The VC said, “Today (Saturday) marks a glorious day in the history of Bangladesh, as Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the best son of the nation, was born on this day.”
It being the National Children's Day yesterday, the university also organised a painting competition titled “Bangabandhu and Swadhinata” where around 600 children participated.
Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) also celebrated the two occasions through various programmes including discussion and children's painting and essay writing competitions.
