Action against 8 doctors ordered for absence
Health and Family Welfare Minister Ruhal Haque yesterday asked the authorities concerned to take departmental actions against eight doctors after they were found absent in their workplaces.
The minister made phone calls to the officials of Chandina and Zajira upazila health complexes in Comilla and Shariatpur districts and found the doctors absent.
The doctors at Zajira Upazila Health Complex are resident surgeon Dr Naser Iqbal, junior consultant Dr AK Azad, dental surgeon Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, assistant surgeon Dr Asaduzzaman Talukder and medical officer Dr Kaniz Fatema Tania.
Three other doctors -- junior consultant Dr Rokhan Binte Hossain, assistant surgeons Dr Nasrin Akhter and Dr Sifat Tasnim -- are from Chandina Upazila Health Complex in Comilla.
The minister made the calls in between 11:00am and 12:30pm yesterday.
