BCL factions clash at Ruet
A factional clash of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) over a trivial matter left two students injured at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) yesterday.
The injured, Abdul Aziz and Rony Islam, both final-year students of civil engineering department of Ruet, were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Sources said the university's Selim Hall unit BCL President Munna, along with its Joint Secretary Rajib and Joy and 10-12 activists, engaged in an altercation with rival faction activists Rony Islam and Abdul Aziz over a previous dispute at the university cafeteria around 12:30pm.
At one stage, the two sides clashed with iron rods and sticks, leaving Rony and Aziz injured on the head and chest, sources added.
Motihar police, along with the university authorities, rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
