AL leaders ask SAU to end crisis

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet
The local Awami League leaders on Thursday visited Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) campus to witness the token fast-unto-death observed by Bangladesh Chhatra League men who were agitating to press a five-point demand including withdrawal of cases against 36 students and resignation of the proctorial body. The ruling party leaders asked the authorities to end the crisis in 48 hours, which was created after the results of the veterinary science and animal husbandry department were announced on January 19. The results, which showed 47 students out of a total of 65 failed to pass the examinations, created anger among students and led them to go on rampage on the campus. For vandalising the university property, the university authorities sued 36 students on January 20.
