A teacher of D M High School in Beani Bazar border town was suspended on Tuesday on charge of sexually harassing a student of class IX. Headmaster of the school Mahmudur Rahman Mollah said the students boycotted class and staged protest alleging the incident of sexual assault. The school managing committee at a meeting with elders on Tuesday suspended the accused computer teacher on the basis of a written allegation by a group of students, he said. An inquiry committee has been set up to probe the allegation, he added. The teacher on July 5 allegedly sexually assaulted a female student of class IX when she came to join his private coaching at the school. The teacher, a bachelor in his late 20s, hails from Dinajpur. In Nilphamari, a mobile court on Tuesday sentenced a young man to six months jail and fined Tk 2000 on charge of sexual harassing a college girl. The convict was identified as Md Raju, 24, son of Abdur Razzak of Dangapara village under Nilphamari municipality, reports our correspondent. Sources said Raju, a married youth of the area made an indecent proposal to 16-year old daughter of Rajab Ali of the same village. He was stalking the girl for the last two years. A police team from Sadar PS arrested the accused from Dangapara area on Monday night.
