RU founding anniversary
Rajshahi University (RU) will celebrate its 58th founding anniversary today.
To mark the day, the university authorities have chalked out colourful programmes on the campus.
The RU anniversary will be celebrated today instead of the university's actual founding day as the Opposition called hartal on July 6.
The programmes will begin with the hoisting of national flag and university flag at 6:00am at administrative building, VC's residence, central library and students dormitories.
RU vice chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan will inaugurate the founding anniversary programmes by releasing pigeons and balloons.
Led by the VC, teachers, students and university staff will bring out a colourful procession from in front of Senate building.
Later, teachers, students and different political and cultural organisations will place wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar and at RU mass grave.
A discussion meeting will be held at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium on the occasion.
Different cultural organisations and theatre groups will hold cultural show and street drama on the day at Central Shaheed Minar and Old Folklore premises.
