Two siblings electrocuted, in Noakhali, 3 killed by lightning in Satkhira
Two siblings died from electrocution at the field of Jaikrishnapur Government Primary School in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district yesterday morning while lightning killed three people including two students in Satkhira.
Mainuddin, 7, and Shrabony, 6, children of Qatar expatriate Dulal Mia hailing from Jinnat Ali Haji Bari of Begumganj upazila of the district, came in contact with some electric wires hanging from an electric pole set up in the field of Jaikrishnapur Government Primary School, a Correspondent reports from Noakhali.
Hearing their scream, teachers and locals went to the spot and detached the two children from the electric wires. But Mainuddin had died by the time while Shrabony was rushed to Noakhali General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared her dead, police and locals said.
A large number of agitated locals surrounded the teachers.
Informed, Begumganj police station Office-in-Charge Abdur Rab rushed to the spot and rescued the teachers.
"We submitted several written and oral applications to the Palli Bidyut authorities to remove the electric pole from the school field but to no effect," said Fahima Aktar, headmaster of Jaikrishnapur Government Primary School.

The victims are
After attending a function at Patakhali primary school, Soumitra Mondal, Haridas Sarkar, Pintu, Subrata and Anwar of Patakhali village under Padmapukur, an Aila affected union in Shyamnagar upazila, were returning home when thunderbolt struck them, police quoted locals as saying.
School student Soumitra Mondal, 12, son of Sanjoy Mondal, and college student Haridas Sarkar, 22, son of Nirmal Sarkar, died on the spot while injured Pintu, Subrata and Anwar were admitted to Shyamnagar upazila health complex, hospital sources said.
In another incident, Yarul Islam, 22, son of Akhtarul Islam of Taluigachha village in Sadar upazila died on the spot when he was struck by a thunderbolt in a paddy field.
