Five JMB men charge-sheeted in Kishoreganj
Five members of outlawed Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), arrested in Katiadi upazila of the district in May this year, were charge-sheeted yesterday in a case filed under Anti-terrorism Act.
Sub-Inspector Zillur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the District and Sessions Judge's court.
The accused are Arif, 25, son of late Alek Mia of Gaital village, Kamal Mia, 24, son of Dulal Mia of Galimgazi village, Humayun Kabir, 28, son of Fazlur Rahman of Kasurarchar village under Kishoreganj Sadar upazila, and Masudur Rahman, 24, son of late Nabi Mia of Maizhati village, and Mujahid, 16, son of Sabrin Ahmed of Ghagra village under Pakundia upazila of the district.
Acting on a tip-off, members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on May 18 cordoned off Darichariakona Primary School where the JMB men gathered for holding a 'secret' meeting.
The elite force arrested the five members of the banned outfit and seized some books on 'jihad ' from them. Rab later handed over the five to Katiadi Police and filed a case with the police station under Anti-terrorism Act.
Of the charge-sheeted accused, four were later released on bail while Masudur Rahman is now in jail.
