Two students abducted from Manikganj

Boy rescued from Kushtia, kidnapper held

Two madrasa students were abducted from Saturia upazila of Manikganj district on Sunday while an eight-year-old boy, abducted from a village under Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday night, was rescued from Mirpur upazila of Kushtia the same day. The abducted madrasa students are Nazmul Ansari, 14, and Mujahid Salman, 13, of Quran Shikkha department at Mohammadia Hafizia Madrasa in Saturia. The abductors phoned the families of the students on Sunday night, demanding Tk 4 lakh for release of each of the two. They also threatened to kill the students if their demand was not met. Mozammel Haque Ansari, father of Nazmul Ansari, and Tofazzel Hossain, father of Mujahid Salman, filed two separate general diaries with Saturia Police Station. Madrasa sources said the two students remained missing since they came out of the madrasa hostel for having breakfast on Sunday morning. Officer-in-charge of Saturia Police Station Abu Taher Mia said DB police are investigating the matter. Police rescued an abducted boy from Shamukia village under Mirpur upazila of Kushtia district on Sunday. Salman, 8, son of Harunur Rashid, was abducted from his house at Notun Bosoti village under Manikganj Sadar upazila Saturday afternoon. Police also arrested the abductor - Robiul alias Jhinu, 35, son of Abdul Mozid of Charulia village under Mirpur upazila of Kushtia district, said Azizul Haque, officer-in-charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police from Mirpur Police Station of Kushtia and Manikganj Sadar Police Station raided the village and rescued Salman from the house of the abductor. They also arrested abductor Robiul alias Jhinu. Robiul came to Manikganj from Kushtia four months ago and was working as day labourer at the house of Khorshed Ali, Salman's grandfather, at Joyra in Manikganj Sadar upazila.
