Clash over disputed land, 6 hurt
At least six people, including two women, were injured in a clash over capture of a disputed land in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur district yesterday.
The injured are Md Ohaidul Islam, 45, his wife Shahnaz Parvin, 35, Mehedul Islam, 27, Sakhawat Hossain, 42, Motiar Rahman, 50, and her daughter Masuda Parvin, 24.
Of the injured, four were admitted to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex while the rest to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital.
Phulbari police quoted locals as saying that two neighbours--Motiar and Ohaidul--have been claiming the ownership of 49 decimal land at Krishnapur village for long.
When Motiar and his brother Sakhawat started fencing the land at around 9:00am, Ohaidul and his family attacked them, leading to a clash between the two sides. The feuding groups used sharp weapons and wooden sticks during the clash, leaving six people from both sides injured.
