5 Rangpur BNP leaders hurt by rival party men
At least five leaders of BNP district unit were injured as rival party men attacked them at the party office yesterday evening.
The injured are district unit convener Mozaffar Hossain, joint conveners Haji Taher, Shamsuzzman Shamu, Saiful Islam, and Rejeka Sultana Fency.
Mozaffar Hossain alleged that a number of so-called BNP activists led by joint conveners of the district unit Badrul Islam Chunnu and Shirin swooped on them when a meeting of the district unit was going on.
Denying the allegation, Badrul Islam Chunnu claimed that joint convevers Shamu and Saiful drew their revolvers and pointed at some leaders of the district unit who at the meeting raised a question of controversial role of the district convener during the recently held Rangpur Bar Council election.
Shamu and Saiful left the meeting venue in the face of protest, he added.
