Sedition case against Sayedee's lawyer
A sedition case was filed against Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee's lawyer Barrister Fakhrul Islam here yesterday for his objectionable remarks about country's Liberation War.
Dr Sheikh Mohammad Farid, president of Thakurgaon Nagorik Committee, filed the case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
After hearing, Judge Ashekur Rahaman summoned the lawyer to appear before the court on November 10, court sources said.
In the case, the plaintiff alleged that the accused, as the lawyer of Jamaat leader Sayedee and others, during a hearing of the International Crime Tribunal on September 22 degraded the Independence, Liberation War and Constitution of Bangladesh and said that the 1971 war was held between Pakistan and India.
The remarks of the accused was published in all newspapers on the next day and his views indicate that the accused is involved in the conspiracy to oust the present democratic government.
