3 drug peddlers held in Benapole, Gazipur

Three drug peddlers were arrested with phensidyl and yaba tablets in Benapole and Gazipur yesterday. In Benapole, BDR personnel arrested a drug peddler with 720 bottles of phensidyl syrup, 55 bottles of liquor and Tk 50,000 in Amrakhali area under Benapole Police Station, according to a correspondent. The arrestee is Kamrul Islam, 30, son of Abdul Jalil of North Kagoj Pukur village. Being tipped off that a drug peddler was carrying Indian liquor and phensidyl in a private car from Benapole to Dhaka, BDR men chased the car at Boropota Bazar. But the car met an accident as it was trying to break a barricade put up by BDR at Amrakhali. BDR members then arrested Kamrul and recovered drugs, liquor and cash from his possession. They also seized the car. A case was filed with Benapole Police Station. In Gazipur, law enforcers arrested two drug peddlers with phensidyl and Yaba tablets at Keranirtek slum, Amtali and Alam market at Duttapara under Tongi Municipality early yesterday, reports UNB. The arrestees are Sumon, 25, son of Suruj Ali and Monir alias Yaba Monir, 26, son of Taru Miah. Police said they raided the areas at around 2:30am and arrested the two drug peddlers with phensidyl and 150 pieces of yaba tablet. Two separate cases were filed with Tongi Model Police Station in this connection.
