Law enforcers arrested an outlawed party leader with a gun in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district early yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, detectives raided Alhera High School premises at Darshana in the upazila where the cadres of Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-ML) were holding a meeting at around 12:30am.
They arrested PBCP leader Halim along with one shutter gun and two bullets on the spot while his accomplices managed to flee.
Halim was wanted in different cases including two for murders, said police, adding that he has recently organised a gang locally known as Halim Bahini.
The PBCP leader was taken to Alamdanga Police Station for interrogation.
In Kushtia, a team from Amla police camp in Mirpur upazila recovered four bombs at Khamarbari village at around 10:00pm on Tuesday. They also recovered a light gun and two bullets from a bush at the village.
Biswajit Saha, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the police camp, said they raided the village after an anonymous caller informed them about the locations of firearms and bombs.
