Robbers loot godown

Robbers looted a godown injuring its owner at Chaulpotti at Savar Bazaar early yesterday. Local people said a gang of armed robbers numbering 6-7 stormed into the godown and looted Tk 10,000 in cash, two sacks of rice and other goods at about 5am. The gang injured the godown owner when he tried to resist them. The victim was admitted to a local clinic. Later, locals encircled the robbers and caught their ringleader Pandu Das, son of Thakur Das of Baktarpur fishermen's colony in Savar. However, other members of the gang managed to flee with the looted goods. Angry mob beat the ringleader up, leaving him critically injured early in the morning. On information, police rushed to the spot and admitted him to the upazila health complex. Earlier, the same gang looted valuables from a nearby house in the area late at night, locals said.
