Two bodies recovered
Bodies of two launch passengers missing at Mawa were recovered yesterday but the other missing person could not be traced yet.
Louahjang police chief Helal Uddin said, the body of Manik Matbar, 35, surfaced near Shimulia Hrishi Bari of Louhajang yesterday noon. Manik is a son of Shamsu Matbar of Chhabbish Para village under Jajira upazila in Shariatpur district.
Earlier the body of missing Sikandar Dhali, 35 was recovered from near Mawa no 3 ferry ghat and his relatives took the body to their home. Sikandar is a son of late Hashem Dhali of Doni Debolnagar in Palong upazila of Shariatpur district.
Both Manik and Sikander were traders. They were returning from their workplace in Dhaka to their village homes. They fell from a launch into the Padma River.
Several passengers fell off MV Parveen into the river when it collided with a ferry as soon as it left Mawa Ghat for Shariatpur Thursday night.
One passenger is still missing, police sources said.
