<i>Frustrated, she slits throat of husband</i>
A housewife killed her husband by slitting his throat at Charbayezid village in Subornachar upazila of the district early Wednesday.
The deceased is Jahangir Hossain, 35, son of Motalib Mia of the same village.
Eight years ago, poverty-stricken Jahangir sold their two-year-old son Mohammad Eleas in Chittagong for Tk 3,500 without informing his wife Rokeya Begum, 30, Sub-Inspector Chiranjiv Das of Char Jabbar police station quoted Jahangir's father Motalib Mia as saying.
Following the incident, Rokeya and Jahangir would often engage in quarrels.
About a week ago, local people assured Rokeya and Jahangir to arrange mediation to solve the matter on Monday but it was not held.
On Tuesday evening, the couple again engaged in an altercation.
Rokeya slit Jahangir's throat with a sharp weapon when he was asleep between 3:00am to 4:00am.
Hearing Jahangir's scream, locals rushed to the spot and caught Rokeya.
On information, Sub-Inspector Chiranjiv Das rushed to the spot, recovered the body and arrested Rokeya.
A murder case was filled with Charjabbar police station.
