Urea output suspended in B'baria
Urea production at Ashuganj Fertiliser and Chemical Company Limited (AFCCL) remain suspended since Friday night due to technical glitch at the plant.
Managing Director of AFCCL Md Osman Gani said the authorities shut down the production at about 8:00pm after a leakage developed in its HTCC vessel.
The factory that produces around 1150 metric tonnes (MT) of urea daily will be able to restart production on September 21, the MD said.
In Natore, the workers of North Bengal Sugar Mill staged a sit-in on the factory premises yesterday morning demanding a separate wage board, reports a correspondent.
Anwar Kamal, general secretary of the union, said the strike will continue until the demand is met.
