Three women commit 'suicide'
Three housewives allegedly committed 'suicide' in Chuadanga and Meherpur districts on Wednesday.
Two of them committed suicide in Chuadanga and the other in Meherpur.
In Chuadanga, Anwara Khatun, 23, wife of Alamgir Hossain at Hatkaluganj upazila under Sadar upazila allegedly took poison on Wednesday morning. She died at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital in the afternoon.
Daughter of Monwar Hossain of the village, Anwara was married to Alamgir last year. The couple was living at Anwara's parents' house. Police quoting the family members said they were unhappy since their wedlock and often locked in quarrels.
The dead was buried without any postmortem following mutual decision of both families, police said.
In another incident, Rabeya Khatun, 24, wife of Aminul Islam at Dingedah village also took poison at about 3:30pm and died at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital in the evening.
Family sources said Rabeya was married to Aminul two years ago. It was her second marriage and she had a four years old son.
The couple often quarreled over various matters, they said.
In Meherpur, Buri Khatun, 20, daughter of Sadek Ali, allegedly committed suicide within month of her marriage. The incident took place at Malshadah village in Gangni upazila.
Buri was married to one Ripon Ali of the same area on August 22.
Police said cattle trader Ripon went out of home in the morning. A neighbour went to Ripon's house and found Buri hanging from the beam of her room at about 10:00am.
She was also buried without any postmortem.
Contacted, officer-in-charge of Gangni police station Motiar Rahman said, the body was buried as both families were unwilling to send it for postmortem.
