Two killed in Gazipur

Two people were killed, one by bullet, during a clash over capture of a disputed land in Mondolbari area of Pirujali village under Sadar upaizla on Tuesday night. Police said one Tajul Islam and his maternal uncle Mansur have been claiming the ownership of a land at the village for long. On Tuesday night, the supporters of the two locked in a clash. At one stage, Mansur drew his pistol and fired several rounds of bullets. Suddenly, one of the bullets hit a passerby named Sushanta Chandera Sarker, 25. He died on the spot. Police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control. They recovered the body of Susanta, a worker of a local battery shop, from the spot and sent it to Gazipur Sadar Hospital for autopsy. At around 9:30pm, police recovered another body from a land near the spot. The body was identified as Nuru Mia, 38, a grocer of the area. The body bore injury marks. Police suspected that Nuru was killed by his opponents during the clash. Police yesterday arrested one Abu Taher, 48, in connection with the clash.
