Drug addict kills wife, neighbour
A drug addict strangled his wife and then beat his neighbour's wife dead at Sherol village under Paikgacha upazila of the district yesterday morning.
The killer, Noor Islam, an employee of a shrimp farm, surrendered to Paikgacha Police Station immediately after committing the murders.
The dead are Reshma Begum, wife of Noor Islam, and Marjina Khatun, wife of Shariful Islam.
Police quoted locals as saying that Noor Islam strangled his wife following an altercation at around 10:00am. As Marjina rushed to the Noor Islam's house and hurled abuse at him, he beat her dead on the spot.
Police said Noor Islam is a drug addict. He used to beat his wife off and on over trifling matters.
A case was filed with Paikgacha Police Station, accusing Noor Islam of killing his wife and neighbour.
