Jubo League leader, 2 others killed in Bogra
A Jubo League leader and two others were killed in separate incidents in Gabtoli, Kahalu and Sadar upazilas of the district in the last four days.
The deceased were identified as Tariqul Islam Tarique, Jubo League president of Gabtoli poura unit, sand trader Nanna, 27, and housewife Beauty Begum.
Witnesses said a gang of criminals attacked Tarique with sharp weapons near the local branch of Sonali Bank, leaving him critically injured on Thursday afternoon.
He succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital. Police said the attack took place when Tareque was going to the bank. Three people waylaid the Jubo League leader and hit him with lethal weapons.
Meanwhile, a youth was shot and hacked to death by some unknown criminals at Ghonapara village under Sadar upazila.
The dead was identified as sand trader Nanna, 27, son of Chandu Mia of Chaksutrapur Kosaipara in the town.
Police sources said at around 6:00pm a gang of criminals shot Nanna and hacked him to dead following a feud over a trifling matter at Ghonapara village.
Police arrested two brothers Shahid and Zahid in this connection.
Family sources said, sand trader Nanna might have been killed by his rivals following a dispute over business.
In another incident, a housewife was strangled allegedly by her husband in a feud centering two decimal of land at Depuin village under Kahalu upazila of the district.
The dead was identified as Beauty Begum, wife of Moti.
Moti went into hiding after the killing.
