Extortionist held with arms
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested an extortionist with firearms at Hazratpur Dhalikandi village under Keraniganj Model Police Station early yesterday. The arrestee is Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan alias Jasim, 35, son of Nur Mohammad Bhuiyan of the village. A team of Rab-10 raided the village at around 3:00am and arrested Jasim at his house. The also recovered a 9mm pistol and bullets from his possession. Rab sources said Jasim had been extorting money from the owners of sand carrying vessels and brickfields at gunpoint in the area for long.
