5 shops, 12 houses gutted in 2 districts
Five shops and 12 houses were gutted in two incidents of fire on Wednesday in Habiganj and Lalmonirhat districts.
Five shops were gutted in a fierce fire at Katiadi Bazaar in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj Wednesday afternoon, reports our staff correspondent in Sylhet.
Locals said, the fire originated from the electrical shop of one Jalil Miah at about 1:30pm and soon spread to the adjacent shops.
Fire service personnel from Habiganj rushed to the bazaar and brought the situation under control with the help of local people.
In Lalmonirhat, at least 12 dwelling houses were gutted at Khodargach village in Sadar upazila on Wednesday night.
Local people said the fire originated from the kitchen of one Khoka Mia and soon engulfed the nearby houses, reports UNB.
On information, fire service personnel from the district town rushed in and put out the blaze with the help of local people.
