Three boys drown
Three boys drowned in Satkhira and Natore districts yesterday and the day before.
Two boys drowned in two separate ponds in Shyamnagar and Assassuni upazilas in Satkhira yesterday morning, reports our correspondent.
The hapless boys were identified as Abhik Roy, 4, son of Pratap Kumar Roy, a teacher of Shyamnagar Mohsin College in Shyamnagar upazila and Raihan, 2, son of Mahbub Alam Sardar of Assassuni upazila Sadar.
Quoting locals police said, Abhik was playing by the side of the pond at village Badghata. At one stage, he fell in the pond and drowned as he did not know how to swim.
In the other incident, Raihan, while playing by the side of the pond, all of a sudden fell into it at village Assassuni Sadar and drowned.
Locals later found the bodies floating in the ponds.
In Natore, a teenage boy drowned in Boral River un Dhupoil area under Lalpur upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon, reports a correspondent.
The boy was identified as Sumon, 16, son of Manik Mia, of the same area.
Family sources said Sumon was drowned while taking bath in the river.
Later his body was found floating in the river yesterday morning.
